A STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION: Training the Nigerian child

.
40UNDER40 NIGERIA
celebrated its first year anniversary in a noble way by charting the course of nation building, as opposed to the traditional celebratory party associated with events of this nature.

.
The event, a Youth Leadership Workshop tagged; A Future of Responsible Leaders: Training the Nigerian Child took place at the Ocean View Restaurant, Adetokunbo Ademola, on Friday the 16th of May, and it was a perfect reflection of the ideals of the 40UNDER40 NIGERIA organisation.

.
40UNDER40 NIGERIA
is an initiative that celebrates Nigeria's worth while at the same time ensuring the continuation and sustainability of excellence in our country. It is no surprise then that this event was targeted at the senior secondary school students (SSS1 and SSS2), who are the next most impressionable in the generational hierarchy of leadership.

The attendance was impressive as all twenty schools randomly selected were present at the event. The speakers were also inspirational individuals who were able to mentor the children in best leadership and nation building practices.

.
The Chair person of 40UNDER40 NIGERIA, Prof. Mrs. Grace Alele- Williams chaired the event, while The United States Ambassador to Nigeria, Ms. Robin Renee Sanders was there to personally facilitate the event. Present as mentors at the event were, the Representative of the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Mrs. Ronke Azeez; Attorney General of Lagos State, Mr. Supo Shasore (SAN); Actor/Special Adviser to the Delta State Governor, Mr. Richard Mofe Damijo and Chief Onyeka Onwenu.

.
A forty- five minutes aptitude test produced three outstanding students, Kadiri Ayodele an SS1 student from Queens College emerged winner, while Adele Aboaba from Kings College and Ekpo Christiana from St. Joseph College came second and third respectively.

.
The overall best student won a full University educational scholarship, an opportunity to be mentored by the United States Ambassador and a Cisco technology training which was donated by our strategic partner Cisco Systems. The other two winners also won full University scholarships among other prizes.

.
Scholarship donors, Mrs. Gbolahan Wale-Babalakin, Mr. Wale Tinubu and Mr. Mofe Boyo were present to support the event.

.
